Firmware Updates
Firmware updates, simply put, are not a frequent event at WiebeTech. The devices just work, and we've never needed to update in the field. We've always had the ability to offer field-updatable firmware - we've just never needed to. Our products word solidly for years without needing updates. Some special features were built into the firmware for Forensic Software Utility itself, and so to allow older products to work with FSU, the updater is simply built in. These new features, as well as the very latest firmware versions, are available with Forensic Software Utility. Simply connect your device - if an upgrade is available, it will prompt you to update.
HPA/DCO Modes
The presence of HPA and/or DCO on a drive will blink an LED on many products (such as Forensic UltraDock). With Forensic Software Utility, you can gain control of how it behaves when the Dock encounters them. The four modes are:
- Detect and do nothing
- Detect and temporarily remove HPA
- Detect and permanently remove HPA
- Detect and permanently remove HPA and DCO
Firmware Hash Calculation for USB WriteBlocker
A special feature for USB WriteBlocker. Recording the hash value of the firmware on the device itself will increase confidence that the firmware is the same as the day you bought it (or the day you updated it yourself!). If you don't know if your hash value is correct from the factory - one simple call to Tech Support will answer.
