AES Encrypted Storage Enclosures with a Read Only switch
A Read Only switch for Hard Drives
WriteLock is the ability to "lock down" data on hard disk drives. In other words, WriteLock enables a Read-only feature similar to CD-ROMS and DVDs without the small media size or speed limitations. Once data is on the drive in the desired way, enable WriteLock to prevent further changes. Perfect for situations where data must be distributed to another party and you want to ensure the data is preserved.
How to use WriteLock
- Use ToughTech in full Read/Write mode with a standard SATA hard drive for as long as required.
- To engage WriteLock mode, press and hold the WriteLock button while ToughTech powers up.
- ToughTech is now in WriteLock mode and ready to share Read Only data.

Tough Enclosure, Tough Protection
This ToughTech includes hardware-based, government-strength encryption. Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), the FIPS approved encryption standard, is now mobile and incredibly easy to use. With ToughTech Secure Q you'll get guaranteed full-disk hardware based encryption, with no loss of speed.
Strong 128bit and 256bit available
Our 128bit hardware encryption is FIPS-197 listed (certification number 60) and our 256bit hardware encryption is FIPS 140-2 (Federal Information Processing Standards) (certification number 1471).
This means that NIST (the National Institute of Standards and Technology) has given it a thumbs up, verifying as strong enough for government use.

ToughTech Secure mini-Q Features
ToughTech Secure Q with WriteLock boasts improved passive cooling, a Kensington Lock, host connection LEDs, and a vertical stand. It includes very strong AES 128bit or 256bit Hardware-Based encryption. It allows you to lock down data with WriteLock, creating a Read Only external hard drive. It also offers quad connectivity, connecting out of the box to FireWire 800 (400 compatible), USB 2, and an eSATA connection over a screaming fast Oxford 934 chipset.
Accepts SATA drives
SATA drives are the standard. They're fast, and they work natively with the fast Oxford 934 chipset found in ToughTech Secure Q with WriteLock.
Shock absorbers for your hard drive
ToughTech introduces FlexMount Anti-Shock Protection. FlexMount is a shock absorber that mounts between the drive and the enclosure, reducing the amount of bumps and vibrations that make it to your hard drive.
Connects to almost any Computer
With four interface options, ToughTech Secure with WriteLock will connect to practically any computer. ToughTech Secure Q with WriteLock provides dual FireWire 800 ports (backwards compatible to FireWire 400), a USB 2.0 port, and an eSATA port.

Plug and play
ToughTech works out of the box with no new drivers needed with any modern operating system including Mac OS X and Windows XP, Vista, 7 as well as any distribution of Linux that supports FireWire, USB, or eSATA. If using FireWire, additional FireWire devices can be daisy-chained through ToughTech.
