Q - Is this product for real?
Yes. While we do have a sense of humor from time to time, Mouse Jiggler is real.
Q - Can't I just disable my screen saver and sleep mode?
Yes. There are people, however, who can't (administratively blocked) or simply don't want to. Popping this in while you go to lunch is very easy.
Very important to us is the fact that Forensics investigators want to change as little of the software on a target computer as possible.
Q - I have software that does the same thing. Why should I use your product?
If you're happy with a software solution, you should probably keep using it. Mouse Jiggler isn't for everyone, and the people who need it know who they are.
Mouse Jiggler is:
1) A funny prank
2) A useful tool for anyone who don't want to, cannot, or should not install or uninstall similar software from the target machine
Many people fall into the second category. Our forensics customers need this tool. Here's a situation:
A bad guy is looking at pictures of undocumented naked underaged goldfish, and the cops break down the door. The first thing they need to do to that computer is make sure that a password dialog box is not going to come up.
Even if they had time, and were allowed to turn off screen savers (which in many cases they are not) they cannot possibly know every idle time event that could happen on that computer. A Mouse Jiggler keeps screen savers and other idle time events away so that they can do the work they need to do with the computer.
Other people want them too, of course. We're getting feedback from graphics professionals, annoyed company workers, and the average prankster saying they want one (for graphics, working, and pranking).
Q - Macs don't go to sleep when a process is running. Why use this?
The screen can go dim (and prompt for passwords) during processes. We received an email from a man who talked about how annoyed he was that it would do it in the middle of a DVD playback. To him, Mouse Jiggler is easier than configuring software.
Q - Do I need to install any drivers or software to use Mouse Jiggler?
No. Mouse Jiggler uses the same drivers as other Plug and Play mice - it will just work.
